4th Sunday After Epiphany
Pastor Amanda preached on how Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount proclaims blessings for the lowly and marginalized, urging communities to embody God’s kingdom by caring for one another and passing on those blessings in everyday life.
Reflection Questions:
1. Why do you think Jesus began his Sermon on the Mount with blessings for those who are hurting or marginalized?
2. In what ways can we, as individuals or communities, “pass on blessings” and live out the values of God’s kingdom described in the Sermon on the Mount?
3. What does it mean for Jesus’ teachings to be “counter cultural,” and how might that challenge our assumptions or behaviors today?
4. Which Beatitude resonates most with you, and why? How might it shape your actions or perspective this week?
Prayer: Gracious God, You bless the poor in spirit, the meek, and all who hunger for righteousness. Help us to see your kingdom in our midst, to care for one another, and to extend your blessings to those in need. May we be salt and light, sharing hope and compassion, and living out the teachings of Jesus in our daily lives. Guide us to lift up the lowly, comfort the mourning, and work for peace, trusting in your promises and love. Amen.
