3rd Sunday of Easter

This past Sunday, Pastor Amanda preached on the risen Christ coming near in Word and breaking bread, opening our eyes to grace and sending us back into the world as witnesses of Easter hope.

Reflection questions

1. Where do you recognize yourself in the Emmaus disciples’ disappointment or confusion, and how does Jesus meet them without judgment?
2. How do Word and Sacrament (Communion and Baptism) function as the primary ways Christ continues to make himself known today?
3. What does it mean that Jesus walks with the disciples before they recognize him—how does this shape our understanding of accompaniment in the church?
4. When have your “hearts burned within you,” and how did that experience lead you back into community or service?

Prayer

Risen Christ, walk with us on the roads where hope feels thin; open the Scriptures to us, reveal yourself in the breaking of the bread, and send us back into the world to love and serve our neighbors, for the sake of your grace. Amen.
